While we are not a primary care provider, we do offer some options for many common health conditions as well as complex disorders. We utilize both allopathic and alternative treatment options. However, it is very important to have a full evaluation and medical work-up through your primary care provider prior to initiating genetics based therapies. The patient does not have to travel to another facility, which can be challenging and costly to arrange.
The specialist receives the health history and chief symptoms from the medical provider caring for the patient, or directly from the patient, rather than a brief, dictated note sent in the mail.
The specialist can diagnose and recommend treatment immediately without the lengthy delays that often occur with the referral process.
In some cases, the patient may not have to leave the comfort of their own home

http://musingsofanaspie.com/working-definitions/
Asperger Glossary, “When I (Cynthia Kim) first started reading about Asperger’s syndrome, I was puzzled by words like neurotypical and stimming. Now that I find myself using these and other autism-specific words on a regular basis, I figured it might be helpful to create a list of simple definitions for readers new to the language of the spectrum.

Allistic: This refers to someone who is not autistic.

Asperger’s Syndrome (AS): Asperger’s syndrome is an autism spectrum condition characterized by deficits in social interaction together with behaviors, activities or interests that are repetitive or restricted. AS is generally differentiated from classical autism by the lack of a delay in language development. People diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome are autistic and I refer to myself as autistic, aspie or having Asperger’s interchangeably. Sometimes AS is referred to as Asperger’s disorder (AD) or high functioning autism (HFA). “High functioning” is a problematic term and one that I only use in my writing if I am referencing a study that uses the term as an identifier for a treatment group.

Aspie: An aspie is a person with Asperger’s.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): The official diagnosis for autism in the DSM-5. Previously, in the DSM-IV, there were a number of conditions included in the ASD category including: autism, Asperger’s syndrome, pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS), Rett’s disorder and childhood disintegrative disorder (CDD).

Central Coherence: This refers to a person’s ability to extract meaning or see “the big picture” in an information processing task. People with weak central coherence tend to focus on the details at the expense of the big picture (think of an essay that is grammatically perfect but has poor organization). People with strong central coherence tend to see the overall meaning while sacrificing details (the essay is well organized but riddled with typos and grammar errors).

Echolalia: Echolalia is a fancy word for the repetition of spoken words. For typical toddlers, it’s a transition period in language development. For autistic people who don’t have functional language skills, it’s a means of communication. There are two types of echolalia: immediate and delayed. Read more about echolalia.

Executive Function: Executive function is a catch-all term that includes our higher cognitive functions such as planning, working memory, attention, problem solving, verbal reasoning, inhibition, mental flexibility, multi-tasking, and initiation and monitoring of physical actions. Impaired executive function is a characteristic of AS and one that many people continue to struggle with throughout adulthood.

Neurotypical (NT): A mash-up of the words neurologically typical, neurotypical is often used as shorthand for people who are not on the spectrum, though nonautistic people can be neuro-atypical as well. A more correct term for nonautistic people is allistic. Read more: What is Neurotypical

Perseverative: This is a fancy word for repetitive. It’s used to described the repetitive actions, thoughts or speech of people with ASD. It can also refer to the tendency of people with Asperger’s to continue doing something the same way even though the task at hand has changed. You may also see perseveration (noun form) or perseverate (verb form).

Stimming: Short for “self-stimulation” stimming refers to repetitive movements like rocking or hand waving. The technical term for these repetitive movements, which is used in the formal diagnostic criteria is stereotypic movement. Read more: The High Cost of Self-Censoring (or why stimming is a good thing)

https://www.reddit.com/r/nootropics/wiki/faq
What are nootropics? Nootropics, also referred to as smart drugs, memory enhancers, neuro enhancers, cognitive enhancers, and intelligence enhancers, are drugs, supplements, nutraceuticals, and functional foods that improve mental functions such as cognition, memory, intelligence, motivation, attention, and concentration.

Originally in order to be considered nootropic a compound would need to:
a) enhance learning b) resist impairing agents c) facilitate interhemispheric transfers of information d) enhance resistance to brain “aggressions” e) increase tonic, cortico-subcortical “control”
f) not have the usual pharmacological effects of neuro psychotropic drugs.
Since then “nootropics” has gradually expanded to either be synonymous with cognitive enhancers or refer to the subset of non-stimulant cognitive enhancing compounds with very few side effects and low toxicity. Under the latter definition all nootropics would be cognitive enhancers, but not all cognitive enhancers would be nootropics.
A cognitive enhancer is defined by its ability to augment performance on one or more cognitive measures.

This area of science is practiced with the objective of changing your brain’s neurochemistry. You and you alone are responsible for your actions, therefore you are fully expected to research and read into this topic yourself and be prudent.

No nootropic is a substitute for a good nights sleep, a healthy and active lifestyle and learning to motivate yourself. rr- Amen!

rr- BELOW my cut and pasted notes, when I was struggling to memorize and understand tTG Sept 2015

A tissue transglutaminase (tTG) IgA and/or IgG test is used as part of an evaluation for certain autoimmune conditions, most notably celiac disease.

*The tTG IgA or IgG antibody tests are usually done to help doctors diagnose celiac disease.
An autoimmune disease can occur when the body’s immune system mistakenly perceives a nonthreatening substance. In the case of people with celiac disease, gluten (a protein found in wheat, barley, rye, and oats (?? rr) is seen as a foreign invader and is attacked by the immune system. This immune system response in celiac disease also involves the production of antibodies directed against an enzyme normally present in the intestines called tissue transglutaminase (tTG).
In celiac disease, the body produces two types of antibodies that attack tTG: immunoglobulin A (IgA) and immunoglobulin G (IgG). Measuring the IgA form of tTG antibody in the blood is more useful in detecting celiac disease because it’s made in the small intestine, where gluten causes inflammation and irritation in sensitive people.
Levels of the IgG form of tTG antibody, on the other hand, are less specific to celiac disease, but may still be useful in diagnosing the condition in people who are unable to make normal amounts of IgA antibodies.

rr Misc, blog notes, source unk:
“My tTG at diagnosis was >200, then after four months it was 132. My doctor said it can take a long while for tTG levels to normalise, and everything I’ve read supports this.
Antigliadin IGA levels are far more reactive, and will rise and fall more quickly with exposure to gluten, so if you’re worried you could ask for your antigliadin tests to be redone and compare those.
“IgA gliadin antibodies increase rapidly in response to gluten in the diet and decrease rapidly when gluten is absent from the diet. The IgA anti-gliadin antibodies can totally disappear in 2-6 months on a gluten free diet, so they are useful as a diet control.”

rr….no time to hunt exact dates: my tTg

For sure only ruled out cross contamination hell starting Jul 12.

http://blueheronhealthnews.com/site/2016/02/21/the-deadliest-type-of-cholesterol-youve-never-heard-about/ “A new scientific movement has now arisen that argues that it is not cholesterol, but oxidized cholesterol, that clogs arteries and causes atherosclerosis.” Oxidation is the chemical reaction that takes place when something mixes with oxygen. Oxidized cholesterol is, accordingly, cholesterol that has come into contact with oxygen during the extraction, processing, or cooking of our food.

The profile includes (1) insulin resistance and dysfunctional glucose metabolism in muscle cells, (2) excess triglycerides in the blood serum, (3) high levels of LDL, particularly small dense LDL, the worst kind, (4) low levels of HDL (the “good” cholesterol) and reduced cholesterol content within the individual HDL particles, (5) elevated blood pressure, and (6) obesity, particularly excess abdominal fat. I have argued previously that this syndrome is brought on by a diet that is high in empty carbohydrates (particularly fructose) and low in fats and cholesterol, along with a poor vitamin D status [Seneff2010].”

PHOSPHATIDYLSERINE Overview Information
Phosphatidylserine is a chemical. The body can make phosphatidylserine, but gets most of what it needs from foods. Phosphatidylserine supplements were once made from cow brains, but now are commonly manufactured from cabbage or soy. The switch was triggered by a concern that products made from animal sources might cause infections such as mad cow disease. Phosphatidylserine is used for Alzheimer’s disease, age-related decline in mental function, improving thinking skills in young people, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, preventing exercise-induced stress, and improving athletic performance. How does it work? Phosphatidylserine
is an important chemical with widespread functions in the body. It is part of the cell structure and is key in the maintenance of cellular function, especially in the brain.

Eat beets. If they turn your urine pink/red, then you have low stomach acid. Stomach acid is a very important first step in digestion. Without enough, you can’t absorb B12, and you have trouble absorbing zinc as well as several other nutrients. If you don’t have adequate stomach acid, proteins aren’t broken down properly, and so they can cause trouble in the small intestine and/or get absorbed whole into the bloodstream. source unk

Book “Grain Brain” international best seller  ”Renowned neurologist David Perlmutter, MD, blows the lid off a topic that’s been buried in medical literature for far too long: carbs are destroying your brain. And not just unhealthy carbs, but even healthy ones like whole grains can cause dementia, ADHD, anxiety, chronic headaches, depression, and much more. Dr. Perlmutter explains what happens when the brain encounters common ingredients in your daily bread and fruit bowls, why your brain thrives on fat and cholesterol, and how you can spur the growth of new brain cells at any age. He offers an in-depth look at how we can take control of our “smart genes” through specific dietary choices and lifestyle habits, demonstrating how to remedy our most feared maladies without drugs.”

Book “Brain Maker” ”Debilitating brain disorders are on the rise-from children diagnosed with autism and ADHD to adults developing dementia at younger ages than ever before. But a medical revolution is underway that can solve this problem: Astonishing new research is revealing that the health of your brain is, to an extraordinary degree, dictated by the state of your microbiome – the vast population of organisms that live in your body and outnumber your own cells ten to one. What’s taking place in your intestines today is determining your risk for any number of brain-related conditions.”

*rr- Flour info, looks exceptionally good. Valuable details about properties and personalities of using non gluten flours in cooking and baking.

rr Not read through, but very skeptical of some the author’s breezy instructions about grinding nuts and cereals in a home blender. Based on long experience with using blenders (including depending on ¼ horse power motor blenders,’ before’ food processors). I do not feel her recommendation to use a regular blender is workable for either efficiency or useable quality/quantity, esp if investing in expensive nuts and new diet changes. Higher cost of obtaining quality ingredients already ‘ground’ or ‘cracked’ to experiment with is recommended. “Natures law IMO is that you cannot improve upon what you have to begin with.”

Note; Nothing can beat vitality of fresh ground flours but only with the right equipment. Unavoidable heating natural occurring ‘germ’ or oils during grinding destroys nutrition. As does aging (and this is why freezing ones grains, nuts and flour supply is best if at all possible.) Oxidation esp of any oil and fat smells, learn to recognize it and never consume. It creates free radicals in the body and they are very unhealthy, Oxidation is the initial stage of things becoming rancid and tastes Bad. You can ck for freshness when purchasing raw oily ingredients by smelling. Quinoa is one I find goes off (gets rancid pretty easy. I know of no salvage or use for damaged grains or nuts, not even animal feed.) High turn-over over sources must be found. Mail order best for most of us, caution then buy in bulk. Purchasing Coops should beginning forming soon………or create one!

United States and Canada certification mark, est I 2014
rr- Excited to discover this mark on a bag of coconut flour I purchased in England from Philippine source via American company. So far I know nothing about any other types of labeling systems to help avoid cross contamination.

Note: rr Various non-Gluten product labels reading, “Does not naturally contain gluten” is a red flag to be noticed and a more or less disclaimer about the possibility of the contents being cross contaminated. This type of wording is ‘marketing spin’ to sell product and highly suspect in that the label admits the product is ok, but the supply chain unknown. Beware!

Baking
“Egg Replacement: Ground flax seeds and water. In order to create this mixture, mix together 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds + 3 tablespoons water, for each egg. So, if the recipe calls for 2 eggs, you’ll mix together 2 tbsp. ground flax + 6 tbsp. water”. r unk Interesting!

rr note: Flax seeds come in two colors and often are also labeled ‘Linseed’. Their diet value is immense and they are easily ground in any metal cutting blade mill apparatus (I keep a special purpose second hand crank coffee grinder I use for nothing else but flax seeds.

rr Tip-Coffee and Herb grinders should never be washed, instead clean by several ‘grindings’ of something like cheap white rice or millet you then discard. I say several grindings and old tooth brush cleaning, because metal blade mills used previous for things like, grinding black pepper need thoroughly cleaned prior to using for flax seed.)

Flax Seed is Good ground and sprinkled on esp porridges. I think it would work on salads, (but I do not eat raw food, because I am influenced by the belief that raw food is hard for weak digestion to assimilate and uses up a lot of energy).

rr ;^/ I discovered flax seed was the filling for my ‘overworked’ microwaveable heat bag, (‘hot water bottle’-like comfort therapy) when I burnt a hole though it covering due to high mircowave heating and the fabric ruptured and started leaking flax seeds!

I also have a little experience soaking the whole seeds, I think over night ? and the jell like mucus that they produced as their natural protective coats swell is very useful stuff for soothing digestive inflammation, temporally. Very drinkable for inflamed conditions of any kind. I discovered this very late and after I had managed to get my IBS calmed. (see, eventual notes on my use of Slippery Elm inner bark powder) Flax soak water strained off the seeds is Sweetish, little flavor and consistency of almost thin egg white. From memory I do not recall any healing benefit other than an action of temporarily coating….but for a child with a throat too sore to try eating and unable to gargle salt water, a little sip might precede tempting food with success. A very raw adult stomach and upper GI, I found to be soothed immediately when taken on empty stomach. When my duodenum (next nine inches of digestive track after your ‘cement mixer’ of a stomach) was in an uproar ‘flax’ (flax water solution) gave relief! I know of no side effects, contra indications, or interactions but consuming lots of it will make your poo noticiably slimy too ;^

From memory I think I recall something about using this flax water ‘mucus’ to sooth topical skin conditions and possibly I think it was useful to cleanse skin burns?? NOT sure. For sure it is not sticky nor does it need rinsed and seems what I would describe as ’friendly’, but then I love plants!

WARNING Raw rice contains traces of a bacterium known as Bacillus cereus. These remain in the rice, even after it’s been reheated.

It is a little known fact that it is actually the cooling and cold storage that is the most important part. Rice and other cereal products such as pasta can contain bacteria called Bacillus cereus which is what is known as a spore-forming organism. The spores survive the cooking process and if allowed to germinate after cooking (by being left at room temperature) can multiply, producing a food poisoning toxin that is not destroyed by heat. So however well you re-heat rice, if you have not cooled it properly, then the toxin could still be there.

The symptoms of food poisoning are usually rapid onset of vomiting (within a few hours) and fortunately the illness is mostly short-lived, and usually not serious.

There are not many incidences of B. cereus reported because it is often over and done with before anyone gets to the doctor for a test to be done, so we don’t really know how much of a problem it is in the community.

Simple tips to control Bacillus cereus after cooking rice or pasta are:

  • Cool rice and pasta rapidly by rinsing in a colander under fresh cold running water. Then refrigerate.
  • Or place in shallow dishes and put in the refrigerator as soon as the food reaches room temperature – probably within 30 minutes but no longer than 90 minutes.
  • Make sure the fridge is working properly – use a fridge thermometer and check that it is below 5 °C preferably.
  • You can freeze rice – defrost quickly using boiling water or the microwave, and don’t allow to hang around at room temperature after defrosting or re-heating
  • Don’t leave rice or pasta salads at room temperature for no longer than 4 hours in total – throw any left overs away.

*Biogenic amine From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

“A biogenic amine is a biogenic substance with one or more amine groups. They are basic nitrogenous compounds formed mainly by decarboxylation of amino acids or by amination and transamination of aldehydes and ketones. Biogenic amines are organic bases with low molecular weight and are synthesized by microbial, vegetable and animal metabolisms. In food and beverages they are formed by the enzymes of raw material or are generated by microbial decarboxylation of amino acids.
Importance in Food Biogenic amines can be found in all foods containing proteins or free amino acids and are found in a wide range of food products including fish products, meat products, dairy products, wine, beer, vegetables, fruits, nuts and chocolate. In non-fermented foods the presence of biogenic amines is mostly undesired and can be used as indication for microbial spoilage. In fermented foods one can expect the presence of many kinds of microorganisms, some of them being capable of producing biogenic amines.
They play an important role as source of nitrogen and precursor for the synthesis of hormones, alkaloids, nucleic acids, proteins, amines and food aroma components. However, food containing high amounts of biogenic amines may have toxicological effects.[1]

Word about Histamine and Amine Intolerance
People who are salicylate intolerant are also likely to develop an Amine Sensitivity or Histamine Intolerance. Histamine and the similar amine substances occur naturally in a variety of foods. They especially develop from the breakdown of protein and fermentation that occurs during food processing. Therefore, fermented products such as alcohol and some cheeses are especially high in amines. Also, meats that have been cooked too long or are not fresh can be very high in amines. Symptoms of Histamine or Amine Sensitivity include (but are not limited to) flushing, sweating, increased heart rate and palpitations, fall in blood pressure, fainting, asthma, tissue swelling, headaches, migraines, itching, rashes, hives, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and tingling/itching/burning in the mouth. Amines have the ability to affect the width of blood vessels therefore causing a variety of circulation problems. As you can see some of the symptoms of amine intolerance are similar to salicylate intolerance. In fact around 70% of foods that are high in salicylate are also high in amines.
;^< source unk”

“Histamine causes your blood vessels to swell, or dilate, so that your white blood cells can quickly find and attack the infection or problem. This is part of the body’s natural immune response, and typically enzymes will break down the histamine so that it doesn’t build up. If for some reason you don’t break down histamine properly, it begins to build up and you develop what we call histamine intolerance.
Because it travels throughout your bloodstream, histamine can affect your gut, lungs, skin, brain, and entire cardiovascular system, contributing to a wide range of symptoms, ahttp://www.amymyersmd.com/2016/02/everything-you-need-to-know-about-histamine-intolerance/nd often making a histamine intolerance difficult to pinpoint and diagnose.

“How Do You Break Down Histamine? Once formed, histamine is either stored or broken down by an enzyme. Histamine in the central nervous system is broken down primarily by histamine N-methyltransferase (HMT), while histamine in the digestive tract is broken down primarily by diamine oxidase (DAO). Though both enzymes play an important role in histamine break down, the American Society for Clinical Nutrition found that DAO is the main enzyme responsible for breaking down ingested histamine. So if you’re deficient in DAO, you likely have symptoms of histamine intolerance.”

www.readingtarget.com/nosulfites
Reading target, Rick Williams
“Sometimes you can neutralize sulfites before eating them. Hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidant and widely available as a 3% solution. When added to sulfite, hydrogen peroxide will oxidize the sulfite ions, converting them to the safer sulfate form. Most sulfite problems do not extend to sulfates. If you suspect that a food may be contaminated with surface sulfites, soak it for a few minutes in a sink full of water with a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide. Then rinse with fresh water before eating. This will convert surface sulfites to sulfates and lower your risk. Of course, if the sulfite has penetrated the interior of the food, soaking won’t help very much. I use this technique on fish and berries to improve my odds. Note that a few unlucky people are also intolerant of sulfates. For these folks, washing with hydrogen peroxide won’t help. Sulfate sensitive people usually react to soap, shampoo and toothpaste containing sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) causing skin rashes. So if you don’t get skin rashes from soap, don’t worry about sulfates”

~‘Functional Medicine-Clinical Ecologist’

The Orthomolecular Approach Two of the goals of nutritional intervention, as mentioned above – to alleviate the symptoms of disease and to optimize a state of health – exemplify an approach to health care called orthomolecular medicine, or orthomolecular psychiatry when it’s aimed at mental disorders. (The prefix ortho is from the Greek orthos = correct.)

The underlying idea is that many diseases result from imbalances in the concentrations of certain natural chemicals normally found in the body. These diseases can best be treated by administering one or more of those chemicals or their natural precursors (plus any relevant cofactors) so as to restore the correct balance and therefore restore health. The optimal concentrations of the chemicals needed in the body may differ greatly from the concentrations actually provided by a person’s genetic makeup or normal diet, hence the need for nutrient supplementation.

The leading figure in the orthomolecular school of medicine was the late Linus Pauling, one of the greatest scientists who ever lived. Part of Pauling’s legacy is the increasing acceptance of his conviction that the orthomolecular approach to therapy, prophylaxis, and health optimization is generally the best. In his own words, “Significant improvement in the mental health of many persons might be achieved by the provision of the optimum molecular concentrations of substances normally present in the human body.”

A little about MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivities)

“Non-food related chemical sensitivities are called MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivities) and occur when a person reacts, sometimes extremely seriously, to various chemicals in the environment around them. The reaction can be brought on by any chemical that the person has come into contact with (it does not necessarily have to have skin contact). Such things as perfumes, plastics, carpets, paint, and cleaning products are just a few examples of things that might cause a reaction in someone with MCS.

People who have a food sensitivity (such as a salicylate sensitivity) will sometimes have or develop MCS. One reason for this is that the problem food/chemical (i.e. salicylate) may be used in the manufacturing process of various products. This can cause a serious problem for people with salicylate sensitivity.
It is best to limit your exposure to salicylates, fragrances, and chemicals as much as possible in order to avoid unwanted reactions.”

“Individualized medicine, based upon analysis of one’s unique genetic code, is the future of medicine”. Source unk

“In the past, genetics used to feel like a ‘done deal.’ We were stuck with the genes we received at birth and couldn’t really do much about them. But now, through breakthroughs in genetic science, we are learning more and more about our specific needs based upon our genetic profile. This means we can influence our health in the future based on the nutritional choices we make now.” Dr. Doni Wilson

~Getting Your Own Raw Genetic Data-

‘For those who wish to enter the age of modernity with regard to personalized healthcare’.

Genetic testing cannot be used to diagnose disease. The most honest and accurate use of genetic test data is to serve as evidence as to why something might not work in your body.

23 and Me only checks for snps, not genetic mutations. A snp is simply a variance of the norm. It doesn’t cause disease but can predispose to it. A mutation is a permanent alteration in DNA sequence. To determine if you have a mutation, you would need to have mutation specific DNA testing done at a genetics lab.

‘23andme’ download and understanding links ??

Once the FDA got involved in the 23andme website things seem to be way more complicated.  I think they have made things really hard on purpose.  I found 2 ways to get to the raw data and i am going to give you the easiest way that I found.
1.  Log into 23and me using this url address:  23andme.com/you/explorer
2. see 2 choices at the top: Browse raw data & Download Raw Data
When I tried to use the browse data, nothing that I tried worked. So I would recommend that you download your raw data. The default setting in the drop down box a little lower down on the page is ALL DNA.   You do have to specify your password to the 23andme website in the box below the box where ALL DNA is specified.  The downloaded file will be a zip file (compressed data).  Some health sites will ask for an unzipped file. Just google how to unzip the file for the operating system that is on your computer (I have a MAC) if you need help.

“You do need to pay for a re-run with updated info. We suggest once every ~6 months as being reasonably likely to have a few compelling differences. So running a new report allows you to check whether information has come along since your previous report about any of the variants that didn’t have any corresponding information before”.

Chris Kresser gives a very helpful basic summary in his Gut-Brain podcast episode: “Leaky gut causes a state of chronic low grade inflammation. Then the inflammatory cytokines produced in the gut travel through the blood and they cross the blood-brain barrier. One of the problems with inflammation is that it makes the blood-brain barrier leaky so you get leaky brain. And then those inflammatory cytokines, once they get into the brain, activate the microglial cells, which are the second type of cell in the brain”.
“One of the problems is that unlike the rest of the immune system in the body that has T-regulatory cells that can turn off inflammation in the brain, the microglial cells don’t get turned off. So, when you’ve got an inflamed brain it can be really tricky to reduce that inflammation without some outside help.”

~Histamine

HIT Histamine Intolerance is an intolerance of histamine ingested with food. It is caused by a deficiency of the histamine-degrading enzyme diamine oxidase (DAO) or an imbalance between histamine and DAO. As far as experts are concerned it is not normally caused by genetic factors but is an acquired disease, often identified as a secondary condition to another.

“Many, if not all, the women with mast cell activation/histamine intolerance I interact with share they have been told their symptoms are psychosomatic. Though I absolutely acknowledge there is a mind body connection and that retraining the brain will help us heal, being labelled a hypochondriac is incredibly counter productive. In my own case it caused me to dig deep into my illness, triggering ever increasing reactions and depression as I struggled to externalise the symptoms I felt so that someone, anyone, would believe I was actually sick. This led to increasing anxiety and depression symptoms as I grew more and more frustrated in the effort to be taken seriously.”

Mast Cells, rr seems British source

“In mast cell there are only 6 rules “
1) Mast cells (in mast cell conditions ) open more easily than normal to triggers . These triggers can be anything
2) The activated mast cells put out chemicals . Some stored some fresly made
3) These chemicals cause symptoms – either close by or travel in the blood ,activate nerves or pass into the brain
4 )Medications control these chemicals -the release , acting or being made
5) Mast cell breaks all other rules and learns new tricks
6) We are all individual in our mix of symptoms , meds and triggers .

~MTHFR-genetics

source unk; MTHFR is a gene that acts like a switch, turning various processes in the body either on or off. MTHFR or Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase takes folate and methylates it into methylfolate. This may not seem like a big deal, but it is one of the most important functions in the body.

“Lately MTHFR has become a buzzword, tied closely with neurological disorders like Autism. The statistics cannot be ignored, 98% of children with Autism have an MTHFR genetic mutation which inhibits their ability to turn folate into methylfolate efficiently. Beyond this, between 40%-50% of Americans have some sort of MTHFR dysfunction, inhibiting the methylation cycle and causing a countless variety of health conditions”

“Independent researchers, doctors, and even patients are researching, writing articles, creating podcasts, and uploading their presentations to YouTube about MTHFR and methylation. But much if not most of their information is unpublished. Many of these people researching don’t even hold a degree in the field. So what happens when you start throwing acronyms such as methylation and MTHFR all over the place while looking at these seemingly overly complex diagrams? People, physicians, and even scientists may be quick to call this activity unscientific and alternative medicine quackery. Something that looks overly complicated (like quantum physics) that seems to have suddenly appear out of nowhere must fall in this category, right?
Welcome to the 21st century. When science doesn’t do their job or is underfunded, independent researchers, doctors, and patients will step up to the plate. Researching isn’t just for those sitting in their Ivory Tower anymore. It’s becoming hugely collaborative.” source unk

” It’s entirely possible your doctor may not know much about the MTHFR gene mutations and that you’ll have to do a little educating. In the medical field, it takes about 18 years for something to become ‘known practice’ and these two defects are a relatively recent discovery (1995 for variant 677 and 2001 for variant 1298)” source unk.

~Microbiome

The Microbiome Reddit  “the ecological community of commensal, symbiotic, and pathogenic microorganisms that literally share our body space.” This term was originally coined by Joshua Lederberg, who argued the importance of microorganisms inhabiting the human body in health and disease.

The human body contains over 10 times more microbial cells than human cells, although the entire microbiome only weighs about 200 grams (7.1 oz), with some weight estimates ranging as high as 3 pounds (approximately 48 ounces or 1,400 grams). Some consider it to be a “newly discovered organ” since its existence was not generally recognized until the late 1990s and it is understood to potentially have overwhelming impact on human health.[8] Modern DNA sequencing techniques have enabled researchers to find the majority of these microbes, since the majority of them cannot be cultured in a lab using current techniques.

The human microbiome may be implicated in auto-immune diseases like diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, and perhaps some cancers. Common obesity might also be aggravated by a poor mix of microbes in the gut. Since some of the microbes in our body can modify the production of neurotransmitters known to be found in the brain, we may also find some relief for schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder and other neuro-chemical imbalances.

Microbiomes are being characterized in many other environments as well, including soil, seawater and freshwater systems. It is believed that endosymbiosis originally gave rise to more complex organisms, and continued to play a fundamental role in guiding their evolution and expansion into new niches. The microbes being discussed are generally non-pathogenic (do not cause disease unless they grow abnormally); they exist in harmony and symbiotically with their hosts.

Researchers have learned that much of the population of microbes found in the human body are not bacteria but a very old class of single-celled organisms called archaea.

~Skin/topical

It is best to limit your exposure to salicylates, fragrances, and chemicals as much as possible in order to avoid unwanted reactions.”

http://www.nature.com/ni/multimedia/skin/index.html
‘The skin is the body’s primary barrier against physical insults and microbial pathogens. It represents a unique environment in which cells of the immune system interact with skin cells to maintain tissue homeostasis and induce immune responses. Diverse and functionally specialized subsets of cells of the immune system sense and respond to infection or various barrier breaches to activate an immune response and eventually return to homeostasis. However, deregulated immune responses can also cause skin disorders such as psoriasis. This animated video introduces the environment and key participants in skin immunity in the steady state and disease.’ Animation by Arkitek Scientific.

Rick Willisam, “Ricia If you live outside of a big city, I wouldn’t worry much about EMF radiation. The most dangerous source in your house will be the microwave oven. Always stay at least 6 feet away when the oven is working. Most EMF sources fall off by the inverse square of the distance. So, the radiation will be 36 times less if you stand 6 feet away, rather than right in front. That also applies to the WiFi router on your computer, if you have one. Mount it as far away from your computer desk as convenient. Lucky me, I have a smart electric meter on the side of my house that transmits electricity usage to the local power company. Right in front of the meter, the radiation can be fairly strong, although it is pulsed and highly intermittent. On the backside, the radiation is rated at about 10% of the forward value. The chicken wire within the walls of my house acts as a partial shield, dropping the danger further. To be safe, I have hung a large picture on the wall directly behind the meter. On the back of the picture, I have attached aluminum foil as a further screen. So now, most of the radiation is bounced away from my house. Don’t tell my neighbor. Of course, his house is some distance from mine.”

“Thyroid Madness Definition according to many reported patient experiences: Treating most hypothyroid patients with T4-only meds; offering no options. Dosing solely by the TSH and the total T4, or using the outdated “Thyroid Panel”. Prescribing anti-depressants in lieu of evaluating and treating the free T3. Telling thyroid patients that desiccated natural thyroid is “unreliable”, “inconsistent”, “dangerous” or “outdated”. Making labwork more important than the hypo symptoms which scream their presence. Failing to see the OBVIOUS symptoms of poorly treated thyroid, and instead, recommending a slew of other tests and diagnoses.” unk
